Got A New BMW? 2 Problems You May Have In The Future

If you have a new BMW, you can expect it to run well for you for a long time. You still need to be aware of problems that may come up, especially once the car gets some age on it. Below are two of these problems so you can be prepared when they happen.

Vibrating Steering Wheel When Breaks Applied

If you notice the steering wheel vibrates on your BMW when you apply the brakes, this can be a dangerous problem. This is because you may find it harder to control your vehicle when braking. One thing that cause this to happen is a problem with the brake rotors. Not soon after you start noticing this vibration you will hear noise when you press on your brakes. This noise may sound like a squeaking or a squealing sound. If you continue driving your BMW after this, you will start hearing a scraping sound, which is a much more serious problem with the rotors.

It is common for brakes to get bad after so many miles of driving your car. This is because the brake pads wear away a little at a time each time you press the brakes. Once the brake pads are gone, then you start having the problem with the rotors.

Leaking Oil

If you notice oil leaking from your car after it has been parked, this could be due to many things. One thing it could be is a problem with the valve cover gasket. Over time these gaskets can wear down. To repair you only need to replace the gaskets, which is something you may be able to do on your own. There are also oil pan gaskets that may also be bad.

No matter what is wrong you need to determine the cause and get the car repaired. You do not want to drive your car on low oil. This is because oil is important to keep the engine lubricated as you are driving. If the engine is not lubricated this will cause friction between the parts, which will result in damaged internal engine components. This would result in engine repairs, which can be expensive.

The best way to prevent problems and keep your BMW on the road is to have it maintained properly. This maintenance involves changing the oil when it should be changed. Refer to the owner's manual on how often you should do this. This also involves tuning up your car, which is checking and changing spark plugs and spark plug wires. To do all this take your car to a mechanic, such as at August European, who can go over other maintenance tips with you.
